Empowering the Scottish Diaspora, One Act at a Time.

Our Mission

The St Andrew's Society Foundation 501(c)3 serves Northern California, focusing on individuals of Scottish heritage. The organization provides financial support and fosters goodwill while promoting and preserving traditional Scottish values and culture. Its overarching purpose is to enhance the lives of those from the Scottish Diaspora in America and contribute to the betterment of society through charitable, educational, and cultural initiatives.

The Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Scottish values and culture, including music, dance, literature, customs, and foods, ensuring that these rich cultural traditions are passed on to future generations.

The Foundation values education and aims to enhance the social, educational, and cultural lives of individuals of Scottish birth or ancestry in Northern California by providing scholarships to universities in the Bay area and Scotland.

As an accomplished author, he's a force for positive disruption and empowerment. His extensive media presence and board roles underscore his commitment to innovation and inclusion.

Kitty Lenhart, Director of Education

Kitty Lenhart plays a pivotal role as our organisation's Director of Educational Scholarships. With a remarkable track record spanning over 17 years as the Child Health and Nutrition Grant Projects Coordinator at Contra Costa Child Care Council, Kitty has demonstrated her commitment to improving the educational success of the Scottish Diaspora.

Alex J Sinclair, Director of Culture

 Alex J Sinclair is a Media Operations Consultant in San Francisco with a background in historic preservation, educational publishing and traditional arts. Alex is committed to fostering cultural awareness and charitable initiatives that support the Scottish Diaspora throughout the United States and is a member and founder of several initiatives, such as the Scottish Highland Winter Festival.

 Gareth Gaston, hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, brings a rich background to his role as Director at our charity. Gareth's journey includes service in The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and a stellar career in digital transformation, currently as the Chief Digital Officer for U.S. Bank. His passion for Scottish culture shines through spirited "Address to the Haggis."

 Alan J Purves, born in Stirling, Scotland, embodies the spirit of Scottish heritage. His international journey led him through London, Kingston, Jamaica, and Brussels before settling in Northern California. Alan's commitment to our charity is unwavering, serving as a Director and contributing his expertise from years of leadership roles within many Scottish organisations in the Bay Area.

Richard Robertson, a highly experienced actuary and former EVP/CFO at Lincoln National Corporation, offers a wealth of financial expertise. He has served several nonprofit organizations in financial capacities and held significant leadership positions in esteemed actuarial bodies, such as the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries.
